With the holiday season upon us, there is hopefully much to smile about. But what if you are reluctant to smile because you don’t like your smile? Then what? Well, a smile makeover could be the solution. At Torbram Dental in Brampton, Ontario, CA, we offer a full menu of cosmetic dentistry services to give you a smile you’ll want to share.
A smile may be less than perfect for a variety of reasons, some of them preventable and some unavoidable. Those reason include chips, cracks and decay; staining due to the foods we eat and drink, tobacco or some medications; misalignment, gaps and misshapen teeth. Regardless of what’s making you unhappy about your smile, the dentists at Torbram Dental—Dr. Vince Fava, Dr. Summer Al Maqdassy and Dr. Joseph Hasso—have the training and techniques to create your perfect smile makeover.
For a smile that is stained or discolored there is teeth whitening. Torbram Dental offers both in-office and at-home teeth whitening systems. With our in-office treatment, you’ll have a whiter smile in about one hour. On the other hand, our at-home system allows you to whiten in the privacy and comfort of home.
For teeth that are more severely discolored or have chips and cracks there is cosmetic bonding or porcelain veneers. The bonding procedure repairs mildly cracked or chipped teeth. A composite resin is applied and molded to renew the tooth and is then hardened with a special light.
Porcelain veneers are made of micro-thin layers of dental porcelain and are designed to replicate your natural teeth. Fabricated in a cosmetic dental lab to our exacting specifications, your veneers are bonded to your teeth and will last for years with a bit of tender loving care.
On the other hand, if your gums are the reason you hide your smile, then perhaps a gum graft or gum lift is the answer. A gum graft treats a receding gum line, while a gum lift removes excess gum to make teeth look longer.

Whether from decay or by injury, one tooth or more may be missing from your smile. You may be self-conscious of your missing teeth. Beyond that, however, the consequences can be detrimental to your oral health, as well as your general health. Dental implants are artificial teeth that replace those that are missing. With dental implants, the dentists at Torbram Dental—Dr. Vince Fava, Dr. Summer Al Maqdassy and Dr. Joseph Hasso— in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, can give you back your smile.
The Consequences of Missing Teeth
Dental Implants can prevent a number of the undesirable consequences of having one or more missing teeth. Obviously, there is the appearance of a missing tooth in your smile. But the possible repercussions don’t end there. Missing teeth may cause the shape of your face to change, leaving you with a more aged appearance. Likewise, one missing tooth can cause other teeth to shift, thereby changing your bite; that can lead to other problems such as teeth grinding and temporomandibular joint disorder, or TMD. Missing teeth may cause the jawbone to deteriorate in the location where there is a missing tooth. Finally, missing teeth may actually increase the risk of cavities and periodontal disease (gum disease).
Dental Implants for Your Smile and Your Health
When you come to Torbram Dental for dental implants, you can be certain that you are receiving the finest care. Your dentist will first implant an anchor and post in your jawbone. The anchor functions much like the root of a tooth, holding the implant in place. The post extends out of the anchor and serves to hold your new tooth, or crown, in place. After giving your jaw a few months to heal and grow around the post, you’ll return to Torbram Dental for the crown. With the same brushing and flossing care you give your natural teeth, your dental implant will give you years of happy smiles!
Make an Appointment Today
If you think dental implants may solve the problem of your missing teeth, call the office Torbram Dental in Brampton, Ontario, CA. We’ll be happy to discuss your best options. Our office also serves patients in Georgetown, Woodbridge and Mississauga.

Risk Factors for Gum Disease
- Smoking- will dramatically increase your chances of developing gum disease and can lower the chances for successful treatment.
- Hormonal Changes-in girls and women. These changes can make gums more sensitive and make it easier for gingivitis to develop.
- Diabetes– people with diabetes are at higher risk for developing infections, including gum disease.
- Pre-Existing Illnesses– diseases like cancer or AIDS and their treatments can negatively affect the health of gums.
- Medication– some prescription and over-the-counter medications can reduce the flow of saliva, which has a protective effect on the mouth. Without enough saliva, the mouth is vulnerable to infections such as gum disease.
- Genetics- some people are more prone to severe gum disease than others.
- Age and Sex– men are more likely to have gum disease than women. People don’t usually develop gum disease until their 30s and 40s.
Stages of Gum Disease
The longer plaque and tartar are allowed to accumulate on teeth, the more harmful they become. The bacteria cause inflammation of the gums called gingivitis. With gingivitis, the gums become red, swollen and can bleed easily. Gingivitis is a mild form of gum disease that can usually be reversed with daily brushing, flossing and regular dental cleanings. When gingivitis is not treated, it can advance to periodontitis. With periodontitis, your gums pull away from your teeth and form spaces that become infected. If this condition goes untreated, the bones, gums, and tissue that support the teeth will be destroyed. These teeth may become loose and need to be removed.
Gum Disease Treatment in Brampton, Ontario, CA
Restorative treatment options for gum disease may include:
- Flap surgery to remove tartar deposits in deep pockets or to reduce the periodontal pocket
- Tissue grafts where the dentist performs procedures to help regenerate any bone or gum tissue lost to periodontitis
- Bone grafting where natural or synthetic bone is placed in the area of bone loss to promote bone growth
Whether you are trying to prevent gum disease, suspect that you have the early stages of gum disease, or are already in the advanced stages of gum disease, make an appointment with Torbram Dental today to discuss your treatment options. Torbram Dental proudly serves patients throughout Brampton, ON, and nearby Mississauga, Georgetown and Woodbridge.

From bent book spines to scratches on cars, everything in life goes through wear and tear. No matter much we may want things to stay in absolute perfect condition, unfortunately, that never happens. The same thing goes for your smile. A chip here and a gap there can really affect the overall aesthetic of your smile, and can cause you to feel insecure about the way you look. A smile is a way we show friendliness and communicate with others, and if it is in less than perfect condition, it can affect the way you interact with the people around you as well as the way we feel about ourselves. Our smiles accumulate stains over time, dulling our smiles, making it appear lackluster and unappealing. Luckily, our experienced and talented doctors are able to whiten your smile using teeth whitening at their Brampton, Ontario dental office.
There are many things that can affect the brightness of your smile. From coffee, tea, and wine to certain medications, tobacco products and natural aging, our smiles are almost always exposed to things that will take the whiteness away. We offer a couple of teeth whitening options to our patients, making sure they receive the treatment that is best and most convenient for them. The first is in-office whitening. When you come in for your teeth whitening appointment at our dental office, we will put a whitening gel over your smile, and in about an hour, your smile is up to ten shades whiter! This is a great option for those who want to whiten their smiles during their lunch break and for people who have a busy schedule.
The second form we offer is at-home teeth whitening, which is a more gradual way to whiten your smile. We will supply you with custom-made whitening trays, fitting your smile like a glove. This ensures that your results are amazing, and it makes your treatment completely personalized to you. We will also provide the professional grade whitening gel to you. All you need to do is fill the trays with the whitening gel and wear them for a certain amount of time each day. In about two weeks, you will see the full results! If you would like our doctors’ help in whitening your smile with teeth whitening, contact our office today!

When a tooth is affected by decay and the nerve-filled pulp within becomes infected, root canal treatment may be prescribed in order to avoid the need for extraction. At Torbram Dental in Brampton, Ontario, Dr. Vince Fava and Dr. Summer Al Maqdassy specialize in a variety of restorative dental procedures to help keep your natural teeth as healthy as possible, including root canal therapy.
How Do I Know if I Need Root Canal Treatment?
Although only a consultation with our doctors will definitively determine which restorative dentistry treatment is right for you, there are some signs that you may notice that indicate the need for treatment. These include the following:
- Pain and/or swelling in the gum tissue surrounding a specific tooth
- A toothache that does not subside
- Increased sensitivity to hot or cold
- A tooth that becomes discolored, usually a dark gray
It is important to remember that not all teeth in need of root canal therapy exhibit symptoms. An exam with x-rays will help in your diagnosis.
If a root canal treatment is necessary, our doctors will prepare the area around the affected tooth and ensure that you are completely comfortable before beginning. The infected pulp of the tooth will be removed and the entire cavity will be cleaned of any residual bacteria. This cavity will then be filled with a biocompatible material and the entire tooth will be capped with a customized dental crown. Because we use CEREC one-day crown technology, you won’t have to wait for weeks wearing a temporary before your restoration is complete.
Keeping Your Natural Teeth Healthy and Strong
If you suspect that you or someone in your family may be in need of root canal therapy, please don’t hesitate to contact our office to schedule your appointment. Like many other issues that require dental or medical attention, an infection of the tooth’s root is most successfully and comfortably treated when it is diagnosed early. Call today to reserve your visit for an examination; we look forward to helping you explore your dental care options in a way that suits your individual case and lifestyle. Our family-friendly office in Brampton, Ontario, CA proudly serves patients from throughout the surrounding areas as well, including Woodbridge, Mississauga, Georgetown, and more.

The placement of crowns is among the most commonly performed restorative dentistry procedures today, offering structural stability to a tooth that has succumbed to decay or undergone root canal therapy. Crowns are also used to complete dental implant restorations, replacing missing teeth to rebuild an incomplete smile. At Torbram Dental in Brampton, Ontario, Dr. Vince Fava and Dr. Summer Al Maqdassy offer our patients the benefits of revolutionary CEREC technology for custom crowns in a single appointment.
Benefits of CEREC Restorations
Though dental crowns have been used to repair and restore teeth for many, many years, the process by which they are created and placed has changed dramatically. Previously, messy impression materials were needed to capture the dimensions of your teeth; this process was by no means very convenient, nor was it always completely accurate. After impressions were taken, the molds were sent off to a separate laboratory so that a personalized crown could be made. This meant the patient had to be fitted with a temporary crown while they waited, sometimes for weeks, for their restoration to arrive.
Today, with the help of CEREC technology, our doctors are able to take digital impressions of your dentition in a matter of minutes and create your customized crown right here in our state-of-the-art facility. You don’t need to leave and come back – the CEREC machine mills your beautiful restoration right here while you sit back and relax in our comfortable office. We will then place your crown and make any minor adjustments necessary. You’ll leave with a gorgeous new crown and a complete smile after just one visit!

Your smile speaks volumes about who you are and how you feel, conveying a sense of health, happiness, confidence, and charm. If your teeth are less than perfect, however, you may feel hesitant to share your true smile with the people who matter most. At Torbram Dental in Brampton, Ontario, CA, Dr. Vince Fava and Dr. Summer Al Maqdassy help patients just like you achieve the beautiful, flawless smile they want and deserve with cosmetic dentistry solutions like porcelain veneers.
Are Porcelain Veneers Right for Me?
A one-on-one consultation with our skilled dental professionals will help determine if porcelain veneers are the right cosmetic option for your particular case. Also called dental veneers, these ultra-thin sheaths of durable porcelain effectively correct a number of common dental blemishes, including the following:
- Chips and cracks in enamel
- Deep-set stains and yellowing that are resistant to traditional whitening treatments
- Uneven spacing between teeth
- Unsightly gaps
- Misalignment and moderate crowding
- Teeth that are too large or too small relative to surrounding teeth
- Misshapen teeth
If our doctors find that porcelain veneers are a good fit for your unique situation, we’ll move forward with the process. A minimal amount of surface enamel will be gently removed from your teeth in order to make room for your veneers. An impression will then be taken in order to achieve a natural, comfortable fit. Within as little as two visits to our office, you’ll enjoy a brand new smile that looks and feels completely flawless, allowing you to smile once again with utter confidence.

One of the keys to a healthy smile is healthy gums. Though many people don’t think gums play a crucial role in the health and appearance of your smile, nothing could be more untrue. At Torbram Dental, we understand how your gums can change the look of your smile, and how some people are unhappy with the look of their gums. Because we are away of these things, Drs. Vince Fava and Summer Al Maqdassy is able to offer gum grafting and lifts to their patients.
There are many reasons gums recede, including genetics, gum disease, tobacco use, and brushing your teeth too hard. Even though it may not seem like a big deal, severe gum recession can lead to a number of problems, including jaw bone infection due to harmful bacteria having easy access. Because your gums help keep your teeth in place, excessive gum recession can even lead to tooth loss. With gum grafting, our very talented doctors will be able to replace your missing gum tissue by taking tissue from the roof of your mouth then stitched in place. If your gum tissue is healthy enough, tissue can be removed from that area as well.
Gum lifts are the exact opposite of grafting. Many people complain about having a “gummy” smile, meaning they have too much gum tissue surrounding their teeth. A gum lift is able to lengthen the appearance of your teeth by removing excess gum tissue. Gum lifts are also a good option for people to feel as though their gum line is uneven.
If you feel as though our experienced doctors and team will be able to help you in improving the look of your smile, call our office and make an appointment. We’d be more than happy to help you with whatever you may need!
